New Delhi: A delegation of the Indian Nurserymen Association (INA), led by its President Y.P. Singh, met Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to discuss concerns regarding the proposed Seeds Bill 2025.During the meeting, the association urged the minister to excludenurseries—especially ornamental plant nurseries—from the purview of the new bill. The INA representatives submitted a set of suggestions to the minister, emphasizing that while fruit and vegetable nurseries can remain covered under the legislation as they are directly linked to farmers, ornamental nurseries should be kept out. The association warned that if nurseries are not exempted from the Seeds Bill 2025, the stricter rules and mandatory registration requirements could impose heavy burdens on the nursery business, putting thousands of nurseries across the country at risk.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was also present during the plantation

  2000 nurseries likely to close

INA President Y.P. Singh explained that if ornamental nurseries are not excluded, many small and unorganized nurseries will be forced to shut down. “Over 2,000 nurseries in the Delhi-NCR region alone could be affected,” he said. The delegation also included INA Secretary General Mukul Tyagi, Joint Secretary Galib Khan, Treasurer Mukesh Sharma, and other members.

Have met the Minister of State earlier

Singh, another delegation of the Indian Nurserymen Association had met Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary and submitted a detailed memorandum.
