Ladakh Natural Farming Training Programme :
The Agriculture Department of Leh organised a method demonstration programme on Natural Farming under the National Mission on Natural Farming at Taru village in an effort to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

The programme focused on creating awareness about eco-friendly cultivation practices and reducing dependence on chemical-based farming inputs. Officials said the initiative aimed at promoting long-term soil health, environmentally sustainable agriculture and cost-effective farming methods among cultivators in the region.

During the training session, farmers were sensitised to the principles and benefits of Natural Farming, including the use of organic and locally available resources, improvement of soil fertility and adoption of environmentally responsible agricultural techniques. Technical staff also conducted practical demonstrations to provide participants with hands-on exposure to various Natural Farming methods.

Around 40 farmers attended the programme and actively participated in the interactive sessions. Officials said the participants showed considerable interest in adopting Natural Farming practices in their agricultural fields and engaged in detailed discussions with experts regarding implementation and expected outcomes.

The programme was attended by Mohd Ramzan, Tsering Dolkar and other officials from the Agriculture Department, who encouraged farmers to gradually shift towards sustainable cultivation practices suited to Ladakh’s fragile ecological conditions.

As part of the outreach initiative, Soil Health Cards, informational pamphlets and stationery items were distributed among the participating farmers to support awareness and field-level implementation of the programme.

Officials stated that such awareness and demonstration programmes would continue across villages to strengthen sustainable farming practices and improve agricultural resilience in the region.
