Vijayawada hosts brainstorming session to boost tomato and chilli farming

Vijayawada: A special brainstorming session took place on Friday at the Farmers’ Training Center, Water Resources Department office in Vijayawada, to support the tomato and chilli farmers. The State Horticulture Department organized the event, aiming to provide all kinds of help to farmers so that they can improve their crop quality and earn extra income with the help of modern farming techniques.
 

Chief guest in the event B Rajasekhar lit the ceremonial lamp and inspired farmers to adopt multi-cropping in place of depending on a single crop. He further added that farmers need to follow expert advice for improving their productivity. This will fetch them more profits and avoid losses.

 

Dr K Srinivasulu, Director of the State Horticulture and Sericulture Department, said the session aimed to raise awareness about the challenges in chilli and tomato farming. He said a special mission has been set up at the national level to promote natural farming. He also urged farmers to shift from mono-cropping to multi-cropping to increase profits.

During the event, several senior officials, such as Vijaya Sunitha, M Venkateswarlu, Dr Ashok Kumar, and Harinath Reddy attended the session. Besides this, numerous experts from horticulture departments were also present on this occasion. In this brainstorming session, farmers, buyers, exporters, and processing unit representatives from different districts also participated.

 

Horticulture farmers got the knowledge and practical solutions from experts on how to improve chilli and tomato cultivation and their yield in Andhra Pradesh. It is expected that farmers will start natural farming after learning a lot of techniques andn-the-spot practical information in the brainstorming session.
