Sonipat: Haryana’s Agriculture Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, recently visited Sonipat to see the work going on at the Haryana International Horticulture Market. He assessed the market and had a meeting with the top officials from the horticulture department and the construction agency. After witnessing the work, the minister inspected several parts of the site, such as the horticulture institute, cold storage, and special platforms being built for farmers. He asked the officials to finish the work at the earliest.

The ongoing horticulture market work is expected to be finished within one year. While talking to media persons, the minister said, “Work at the market is progressing well. There are various issues, but all are minor, and they will be sorted out soon. The project is set to be completed in one year; after the launch of the first phase of the market, people of the region will get plenty of benefits.”

The minister showed a lot of concern about people who were living illegally on the market land. A draw has already been conducted for residential plots in a housing colony for their rehabilitation. These residents had initially deposited 10% of the plot cost but later went to court. Now, as the matter is resolved, they will pay the remaining 15% and receive their plots.

This project is likely to excel in the horticulture sector in Haryana. Farmers will get a chance to sell their productivity in the market. They can use cold storage facilities to keep their yield fresh for a longer period. After the operation of the market, it would provide confidence to horticulture farmers.
