Farmers are getting generous financial aid this year. Suryanarayana from Nandava village, Meliyaputti mandal, received Rs 20,000 for tomato and pumpkin farming. Now, the subsidy has gone up to Rs. 30,000, inspiring him to further boost his horticulture cultivation. Another farmer, Jagan from Dinabandhupuram, got Rs. 30,000 per acre for dragon fruit farming last year, which has gone up to Rs. 1.62 lakh this year, encouraging him to expand his horticulture productivity.
The government has left no stone unturned in the promotion of horticulture development across the state, prompting the expansion of the areas of cultivation. Farmers are getting plants from nurseries at subsidized rates, and experts are providing modern techniques to them.
The main focus is to boost the production of fruits and flowers. Besides this, drip irrigation and the setting up of polyhouses will be provided at subsidized rates, which will be up to 100 and 90 percent for SC/ST and BC/OC farmers, respectively.
Farmers having land up to 5 acres can apply at local Rythu Seva Kendras or agriculture offices for subsidies. They have to provide several documents like a land passbook, Aadhaar, bank details, and a photo during the submission of the form. The subsidy amount will be sent directly into the selected farmers’ accounts.
