New Delhi: India's flower export industry has been blooming perfectly; the country exported 19,677.89 metric tonnes of flowers to international markets, earning US$86.63 million in the financial year 2023–2024. India’s overall export crossed INR 717.83 crores, according to the latest export data. Roses, lilies, carnations, and chrysanthemums are the leading flowers that are being mostly exported from India to the USA and some other countries.

The Netherlands, Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Turkey, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Armenia are among the top countries in the global flower export business. However, India is fast catching up with its unique offerings like marigolds from the heartland and exotic orchids from the Northeast, which are gaining attention worldwide.

At present, flower farming in India has been taking place on 285,000 hectares of land. Tamil Nadu is the leading flower-producing state in the country with a 21% share, followed by Karnataka at 16%, West Bengal at 14%, and Madhya Pradesh with 12%. India’s diverse climate and rich biodiversity help in the harvest of numerous flowers like marigolds, sunflowers, and lotuses; they play a great role in global floriculture trade.
Several names that make India proud in the global flower trade include Bee Bee Exports, Global Dried Flowers, Crazyflora, Soex Flora, and Happy Morning Export Import. These companies have been playing a vital role in meeting the global demand and providing high-quality fresh and dried flowers.

India’s floriculture industry has been blooming due to better infrastructure and increasing global interest. The future of the industry is looking bright and full of colours. It is expected that in the coming years India’s flower will get a place in several other nations’ superstores.
