He further added that currently, 18.23 lakh hectares of land are under horticultural cultivation, which should be doubled in the next five years. He also emphasized spreading awareness among farmers. He wants to increase cocoa farming, and it should be cultivated on at least one lakh acre of land to meet the global demand.
He also emphasized the importance of training farmers in post-harvest practices and encouraging them to start small-scale processing units to improve their income. He urged full use of subsidies for micro-irrigation systems and recommended prioritizing SC, ST, and small farmers for drip irrigation and automation used in horticulture farming.
Officials asked the CM that meetings take place every month in all districts to create awareness among farmers. They also shared that fruit covers worth Rs 32 crore were distributed on subsidy, helping farmers on 10,000 hectares earn Rs 120 crore in extra income.
This initiative by the state government is expected to work well, and horticulture production in Andhra Pradesh will shoot up because the state has potential in the horticulture crops farming due to its ideal climate.
