Punjab Horticulture Minister assesses progress of ongoing projects and schemes

Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat held a review meeting at Kheti Bhawan in Mohali on Tuesday and took stock of the situation about the ongoing progress of numerous projects and schemes being run by the Horticulture Department. Speaking at the meeting, Bhagat said that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has left no stone unturned in strengthening the horticulture sector.
 

The minister highlighted that the promotion of horticulture is an essential effort for the welfare of farmers, boosting their profits and inspiring them to go for crop diversification and adopt modern techniques so that productivity can be increased in the state. The minister stressed that there should be transparency and timely allocation of subsidies to farmers.

He went on to say that farmers should receive the benefits of government schemes without any delay. He instructed department officials to speed up the completion of horticulture projects and stay connected with farmers at the grassroots level to understand their needs better.

 

During the meeting, Horticulture Secretary Mohammad Tayyab and Director Shailender Kaur presented the detailed report to the minister on the ongoing progress of different schemes by the department. They also shared numerous works being done for the welfare of farmers and the progress of the horticulture sector. In this meeting, top brass of the department, such as Deputy Director Dalbir Singh, Harmail Singh, Harpreet Singh, and several other officials, were also present.
