Punjab Horticulture Minister assesses farmer welfare schemes

Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat conducted a review meeting on the numerous schemes being run by the Horticulture Department for the welfare of farmers on Monday. The meeting took place at the Punjab Civil Secretariat; top brass of the department were also present. Bhagat listened to the ongoing progress carefully and urged officials to implement such schemes quickly so that farmers can benefit from this.
 

He underlined the importance of timely delivery to ensure the schemes make a real difference in the lives of farmers. He also stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann, is committed to promoting crop diversification and the use of modern agricultural techniques. These steps are aimed at improving farmers’ income and reducing dependence on traditional crops like wheat and rice.

The minister said the government is making continuous efforts to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of farmer welfare schemes. He added that increasing farmers’ income in a sustainable and impactful way remains the top priority of the government. The minister inspired officers to work with dedication and make sure that farmers are aware of the schemes available to them.
