As part of the scheme, one farmer each from Bhrigudas Bari, Khamting Bari, Thaiplak Phang, Chargarhia, and Kairai ADC Villages received support. Additionally, two farmers from Kathiram Bari ADC Village were also selected for assistance. In total, five hectares of land have been brought under pineapple cultivation.
The project was implemented at a cost of Rs 32,800 per hectare, with the total expenditure amounting to Rs 1,64,000. The Mandai Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Office released these details, highlighting how the initiative promotes sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
An official from the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department stated, “During the financial year 2024-25, selected farmers were supported under the MIDH scheme for pineapple farming. This assistance aims to improve productivity and ensure better incomes for rural farmers.”
Pineapple farming plays a key role in Tripura’s horticulture sector. The farmers need structured support and funding. The government is providing full support to the farmers so that they can start pineapple farming on a large scale and boost their livelihoods as well. This initiative is expected to strengthen the state’s horticultural capacity, and it will also encourage farmers to adopt modern techniques for getting better yield and income.
