Patna: Even in digital age farming is still the main occupation of the people of Bihar. But farmers often have to face several challenges. Floods destroy crops during the rainy season. Water shortage especially in summer is another issue for the farmers in the state. To overcome such problems, the Bihar government has starts a scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) to provide all kinds of help to farmers.

Through this scheme, the state government is offering up to 80% subsidy to farmers for adopting drip irrigation and mini sprinkler systems. This move aims to make irrigation easier, save water, and reduce costs. The production of crops including fruits and vegetables will be enhanced.

The main goal is to ensure that water reaches every farm and to reduce farmers’ irrigation expenses. The drip irrigation system delivers water directly to the roots of plants, drop by drop. It not only prevents water wastage but also saves fertilizer as nutrients can be supplied directly to the roots. This system also saves time and labor, while improving crop quality.

The mini sprinkler system uses small nozzles to spray water evenly over crops. It is especially useful for vegetables and horticultural plants, helping them grow better and healthier. With the ability to cover a large area using less water, this method is becoming popular among farmers.

Those farmers who want to receive the subsidy they have to visit the official website of Bihar’s Horticulture Department: https://horticulture.bihar.gov.in/. After that click on the “Yojana” section, select PMKSY, and apply under “Individual Drip and Mini Sprinkler Subsidy.” Never forget to give correct details and then click the submit button for getting the subsidy benefits.
