Nalgonda: The bloom of the sacred Brahma Kamalam flower, known as the "King of Himalayan Flowers," is a rare event for the residents of Amulya Colony, Nalgonda district, Telangana. This flower blooms only at night. The scientific name of this mystic flower is Saussurea obvallata. Its bloom is deeply connected with the Indian tradition, which is a symbol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Mahalakshmi.

When it blooms, then locals and devotees throng to witness this extraordinary event, as the Brahma Kamalam blooms only once a year and only at night, making it extremely rare. The bloom begins usually between 7 PM and 1 AM and takes about two hours to fully open. The entire blooming process lasts only for a few hours, creating a magical and divine atmosphere.

The flowering season for Brahma Kamalam typically occurs during the monsoon months, between July and August. However, this unexpected blooming in the summer added to the excitement and spiritual significance.

Special midnight prayers were conducted by local priests, who told devotees that witnessing the flower in full bloom is believed to bring heavenly blessings and spiritual merit. Many people gathered to experience the moment, take pictures, and offer prayers.

The bloom of the Brahma Kamalam flower is celebrated with chastity. Local residents feel that it is a matter of honour to see this rare event. Usually, rare flowers grow in cold Himalayan peaks, but Brahma Kamalam blooms in a warm district like Nalgonda, which is surprising and sacred as well. This flower’s bloom lifts the mood of the people spiritually.
