According to officials, a site inspection was conducted on May 24 at plot GH-05 in Sector Techzone 4. It was observed that sand, soil, and other construction materials were being transported in uncovered dumpers, significantly escalating dust pollution in the area.
“The project lacked effective dust control mechanisms, which is a clear violation of NGT norms. The builder has been directed to deposit an environmental compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh at the earliest and submit the receipt to the Authority’s Institutional and Builders’ Wing,” said Rajesh Kumar, Senior Manager, GNIDA.
In a separate incident, officials inspected plot 8 in Sector 1 and found the discharge of untreated sewage and basement water onto the adjacent 60-metre road. The inspection was carried out by the Deputy General Manager (Projects), along with senior managers from the Sewer and Work Circle-3 departments. The builder was found responsible for damaging the road and drainage infrastructure.
A fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed for the damage caused to public infrastructure. The builder is required to pay the fine and also bear the cost of repairing the road and drains, according to the Senior Manager. All developers have been warned to take comprehensive measures to control dust and air pollution in compliance with environmental norms.
