Hoshiarpur: The CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, in Himachal Pradesh, always tries to promote awareness and create green spaces across the country. The organization recently did the same and distributed 35 flowering and ornamental plants to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Government Elementary School, Beniwal, in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. The sole goal was to encourage school children learn how to conserve natural resources such as biodiversity, the environment, plant care, and so on.

The mission was to inspire students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their lives. Therefore, the school got numerous varieties of plant species, such as Ficus, Nerium, Jatropha, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea, Spider Plant, Agapanthus, and Rhoeo. These plants were selected due to their remarkable beauty, easy maintenance, and packed environmental benefits. Planting plants and looking after them will make the school campus beautiful and make the atmosphere calm.

With the plantation of these plants, greenery is to be expanded, which will be healthier for both students and teachers alike, giving children a chance to remain in direct contact with the plants and become future guardians of the environment.

This initiative shows the commitment of CSIR-IHBT to the society and the spread of environmental education. The institute encourages tender hearts to make it a habit to plant the seeds and spread greenery and environmental awareness among the people from all walks of life and save our earth. With this small effort, CSIR-IHBT has been nurturing a greener generation.
