Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Annual Mango Festival began on Tuesday at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Regional Office Campus in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar (Odisha)), displaying the different varieties of the state’s mangoes. The festival will conclude on 12 June.

This event is part of NABARD’s Tribal Development Fund (TDF) initiative, launched in 2003–04 to provide support to tribal families with the help of orchard-based farming, especially mango cultivation. Through this effort, several barren lands were converted into income-generating farmlands.

NABARD has been helping local farmers to send their mangoes to overseas markets through a training programme called “Export Pathshala.” Last month, two farmer producer organizations (FPOs) from Titilagarh in Bolangir district sent 50 quintals of mangoes to some European nations.
