New Delhi: In a significant move to curb dust pollution in Delhi NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has inked an agreement with the CSIR-CRRI and the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, with the goal of curbing dust pollution. Poor maintenance of roads and dust from construction sites produce tiny particles that pollute the air, badly affecting health. Therefore, road dust needs to be addressed scientifically.
As per the agreement, CSIR-CRRI and SPA are ready to provide institutional support and technical guidance to the Project Monitoring Cell (PMC) being set up at CAQM. These institutions will train staff professionally.
The main focus is to use the latest technology, better road design, and greener surroundings so that dust levels can be reduced. A special dashboard is likely to be created soon to monitor road projects using real-time data. This agreement is a significant step towards improving the air quality in NCR. With the help of experts and sound planning, roads don’t only connect places; they also protect the environment as well.
