New Delhi: India's floriculture industry is making a strong mark in the global flower trade. With vibrant blossoms, varied species, and improved farming practices, the country is now earning both recognition and revenue from flower exports. In the financial year 2023–2024, India exported 19,677.89 metric tonnes of flowers to international markets, generating an income of US$86.63 million. In terms of Indian currency, the overall export value crossed INR 717.83 crores, showcasing significant growth in this colorful sector.

Flowers such as roses, lilies, carnations, and chrysanthemums are at the top of the export list. These beautiful blooms are mainly sent to countries like the United States and others with a growing appetite for quality flowers. Known for their beauty and versatility, these flowers are perfect for celebrations, decorations, and personal gifts, making them highly sought-after in global markets.

India is now rapidly catching up with other top flower-exporting countries such as the Netherlands, Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Turkey, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Armenia. While these countries have long dominated the industry, India's unique offerings are now gaining attention. For instance, marigolds from the Indian heartland and exotic orchids from the Northeastern states are turning heads globally. These native blooms stand out due to their cultural value and striking appearance.
