California: Cal Poly’s Plant Conservatory in San Luis Obispo, California, has been gearing up to witness a rare and giant corpse flower this week. It is expected that a huge number of people will turn up to see the unusual happening. It is nature’s miracle. This variety of flower is known for two things—its gigantic size and strong odour, which is compared to rotten meat.

The smell of the plant attracts flies and insects that help it pollinate. Noticeably, the bloom of the flower remains for just 24 to 48 hours, so visitors will have to hurry up to witness this rare wonder of nature. However, the exact date of its bloom is not confirmed, but campus officials say it may take place any day this week. The moment bloom gets underway, the Plant Conservatory will update its website along with all the details and visiting hours for the public.

This will be the first incident of the bloom of a corpse flower at the new Cal Poly Plant Conservatory, opened in 2023. Earlier blooms occurred at the university’s Environmental Horticulture Unit in 2012 and 2022. Tourists have a chance to see and observe the smell of one of the rarest flowers worldwide.
