Rare corpse flower ‘Wally’ to bloom at Indiana University

Indianapolis: Nature lovers will soon get a chance to see the bloom of the corpse flower nickname“Wally” at Indiana University in the United States. The unusual happening will take place at the university’s Biology Greenhouse center within one or two days, as per the greenhouse manager, John Leichter.
The corpse flower is a rare species, though it has bloomed in rare regions of the world but appears rarely. The unique flower is famous for its enormous size and rotten smell. The flower releases a strong odor like rotten meat; despite this, people are ready to witness this rare bloom.
The size of Wally is around six feet tall, and it will bloom for a short span of time—24 to 36 hours. After that, the smell fades and the flower starts to wilt. The greenhouse will have special open hours for the tourists.
This is to be the fourth occasion when Wally will bloom since its arrival at IU in 2007. The last time it bloomed was way back in 2023. A huge number of visitors are likely to turn up to see this rare happening.
