Itanagar: A strategic partnership has been formed between the Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (ICAR-CITH) and QUL Fruits Pvt Ltd for the promotion of temperate horticulture in the northeastern states of the country. This initiative is likely to promote the farming of numerous crops, such as apples, kiwis, and persimmons, in the region.
The collaboration was officially stamped through a farmer-focused programme held at the CITH Regional Station in Dirang. During the event, farmers and horticulture experts from different regions of the Northeast participated in the event.
Locals got the knowledge about advanced apple farming. Experts shared their ideas that, like the Kashmir hilly regions, Arunachal Pradesh can also be transformed into an apple hub.
QUL Fruits also introduced the “QUL Gah,” a new extension and interaction center in the region. This center has given an opportunity to the Northeast farmers to connect with the Kashmiri apple-growing farmers to know the latest techniques of growing apples.
During the launch event, many CITH scientists and local farmer groups took part. Experts transmitted some essential tips to farmers on how to grow apples and other fruits scientifically to boost yield and strengthen their economy.
