Hubli: Hubballi's flower traders in Karnataka finally got a sigh of relief because they have been allotted newly constructed shops. This initiative ends their decades of trading in open or temporary sheds. At the request of traders, local MLA Prasad Abbayya inaugurated the newly built shops a couple of days ago. Now, the traders will operate their businesses from the new shops.

Earlier, they had to operate businesses under tin sheds. They always remained on the receiving end, especially during rains, making business tough. They had no space to park their vehicles, and keeping flowers fresh was a big challenge for them.

Currently 12 of them have been allotted new stalls. However, 8 of the 20 traders are still waiting to get new shops. They have been assured of continuing their business under the shed's tin roof till the construction of new shops.

Hubballi is a flower hub. Flowers like chrysanthemums, marigolds, roses and others arrive from surrounding areas in this market. Around 8-10 tonnes of flowers are received daily, and a huge number of people turn up to purchase them. The new infrastructure is expected to further boost the business; customers will feel at ease.
