World Youth Skills Day served as a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in youth skills—especially in areas such as digital learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and climate action. Digital skills helped youth stay connected, access employment opportunities, and shape their futures.
In various countries, youth groups used WYSD to promote the development of plant nurseries. A nursery, where young plants and trees were grown before transplantation, played a vital role in protecting the environment. By establishing and maintaining nurseries, young people actively contributed to reducing pollution and mitigating climate change. Trees and vegetation helped purify the air, lower urban temperatures, and support biodiversity. Additionally, expanding green spaces improved community well-being, both mentally and physically.
Across continents—from Asia and Africa to Europe and the Americas—youth mobilised efforts to protect the environment. They initiated river clean-up campaigns, reduced plastic waste, and planted trees in urban and rural areas. Many engaged in community gardening, learned sustainable farming techniques, and educated peers on environmental conservation.
