Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing Dinesh Pratap Singh recently urged officials to complete the Centres of Excellence for flowers and fruits as soon as possible. His instruction came after checking the department's schemes during a web conference with top brass of the department from all districts and divisions.

The minister went on to say that the fund should be properly used in the expansion of horticultural activities and the implementation of government schemes. He further added that the state government has an exclusive aim to boost farmers’ profits through innovative farming and better use of technology in the horticulture sector. He said that all schemes should be implemented within the allotted time period and in a transparent manner.

He warned that carelessness or delays in work will not be acceptable at any cost. He said funds need to be used within the set time so that farmers can get maximum benefits. He also announced Centers of Excellence for flowers in Kashi, Mathura, and Ayodhya; for strawberry, dragon fruit, and dates in Mirzapur; for citrus fruits in Jhansi; and for honey in Raebareli.

The minister made it clear that severe action will be taken against those officials who were responsible for delays in work and asked officers to meet farmers on a regular basis for the better execution of the scheme, like the ‘One Block One Crop programme’.
