Westminster: A special surprise is about to occur at Westminster’s City Hall because a 25-year-old agave plant is finally set to bloom. It was planted 25 years ago and is one of the unique things that are about to take place. “It’s great for morale,” said Austin Cox, the city’s digital communications supervisor. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime — or once-in-a-career — moment to see this plant bloom.”

Shalene Hiller started her greenery mission in the city more than two and a half decades ago. She also planted an agave plant, aiming for it to consume less water, so agave is considered a drought-friendly plant. During these years, she further planted about 40 agaves. It is the first time that she will witness one of the agave plants bloom.

The features of agave plants are unique, blooming only once in their lifetime; after the blooms, the plant wilts. Therefore, this quality makes this plant even more special.

Now, both employees and visitors at City Hall are eagerly waiting to see this rare sight. Nature's wonder is about to occur, but behind this, staff members work hard and show a lot of patience.
