New Delhi: The air quality of Delhi has improved remarkably due to persistent rainfall. It becomes a boon for the Delhiites; the city has witnessed the cleanest July in more than a decade, with the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital for the month recorded at 79. As per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), this is the lowest AQI in July since 2015. A massive improvement in Delhi’s air quality: the AQI falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category.

The Safdarjung weather station recorded 68.1 mm of rain. Overall, Delhi saw 235.2 mm of rainfall in July—well above the monthly average of 209.7 mm. The continued rain has helped in the dip of AQI; it remained 66 on Wednesday, while it was 72 on Tuesday.

According to experts, rain on a regular basis has made air quality better; now it falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category. The wet weather has made the atmosphere pleasant all over the city. Delhi residents have got a sigh of relief for the time being as they are breathing fresh air this July. The wet weather helps dust to settle down, the main source of pollution. This led to the improvement.
