Five sacred flowers bring people closer to deities

Patna: As per the Hindu beliefs, some flowers are sacred and connected to numerous gods and goddesses. These beautiful flowers carry spiritual meanings such as love, devotion, and purity.

 

Lotus (Kamal) is grown in muddy water but remains pure. It stands for brightness, and several deities, like Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Brahma, used to love this flower as per Hindu mythology.

 

Hibiscus (Japa Pushpa), the red-coloured flower, is considered to provide strength and power. Therefore, Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha were offered this flower for bravery, energy, and eliminating life’s difficulties.

Marigold (Genda) is available in different colours, but bright yellow and orange are considered a symbol of wealth and happiness. During festivals like Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi, it is offered to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi.

 

Jasmine (Mogra/Chameli) its sweet odour and white petals, spread devotion. It is offered to Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Hanuman.

 

Tulsi (Holy Basil) is a sacred plant found in most of the Indian houses, considered an earthly form of Goddess Lakshmi. During special rituals like Tulsi Vivaha, its leaves are offered to Vishnu and Krishna.

 

These flowers bring holy people closer to God and bring happiness, prosperity and wealth at home.
