LuLu Group organised the programme with support from the Indian Embassy. During the event several varieties of Indian mangoes, including GI tag and regional favourites such as Dasheri, Banarasi Langda, Amrapali, Chausa, Sunderja, Bharat Bhog, Mallika, and Lakshman Bhog, and many more, were presented.
On this occasion, Sunjay Sudhir, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, LuLu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali M.A. and senior officials from APEDA were also present. Sanjay Sudhir appreciated the role of LuLu in promoting Indian fruits, especially mangoes; he also praised APEDA’s relentless work in connecting Indian farmers with global buyers.
Currently, the UAE is the key importer of Indian mangoes. India sent above 12,000 metric tonnes of mangoes to the Gulf nation in 2024, valued at $20 million. This number is expected to grow this year because the demand for Indian mangoes is growing across the UAE.
