New Delhi: The monsoon season is at its peak. People of Delhi are enjoying showers as well. The time is perfect for mango lovers. They gathered recently at Lodhi Garden for a special celebration—a joyful mango party. Despite light rain in several parts of the city, the celebration didn’t spoil.

More than 50 kilograms of ripe mangoes were brought on this occasion, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance; the event was an exclusive tribute to the king of fruits. The party was organised under the shade of a heritage mango tree near the historic Shish Gumbad.

Ravinder Singh, an author, led the celebration. He presented a sensory performance titled Memory Orchard, where he invited guests to see mangoes not just as fruits but as memories. “You will not just see a mango; you will see my childhood,” he said, recalling how his grandmother taught him to enjoy the taste of dasheri aam.

During eating mangoes, most of the senses remain active. All the attendees penned down their own memories about mango eating in their lives. Many of them wrote about their childhood experiences and stories.

The celebration concluded with the enjoyment of different mango varieties like Rataul, Husnara, gulab jamun, and banana mangoes. It was truly a memorable and heartwarming event for mango enthusiasts.
