Auckland: Lijomol from Kerala’s Alappuzha district has made the open space in her New Zealand residence a thriving garden. She has been growing fruits and vegetables in a huge quantity. She grows oranges and seasonal vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, and ash gourd. She also prepares saplings for winter crops.

By profession Lijomol is a nurse, but gardening is her passion. In her backyard garden, she grows fruits, vegetables, and flowers like tulips. She shares gardening videos and tips on different social media platforms, making over 26,000 followers.

She moved to New Zealand with her husband more than a decade ago. In the beginning she used to grow small plants in pots because they were living in a rented house. She moved to her own house in 2018, starting full-fledged gardening work, growing vegetables, lemon trees, and orange trees.

She usually receives seeds from local shops and online but never brings seeds from India due to some strict rules. Currently, she has been growing several vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, kale, silver leaf, and more, especially in winter. Her husband helps her a lot in her gardening activity.
