Record crowd throngs to see Lalbagh flower show on Independence Day

Bengaluru: A huge crowd thronged to Lalbagh Botanical Garden on the occasion of Independence Day on Friday to see the vibrant flower show. As per an expectation, around 179,090 visitors turned out to see the event. The Horticulture Department received Rs 85 lakh from the ticket sale. The flower show got underway on August 7, inaugurated by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and it will continue till August 17.
 

The show is based on the theme “Veera Rani Kittur Chennamma and Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna.” According to M. Jagadeesh, Joint Director of Parks and Gardens, Horticulture Department, the show surpassed all the previous records as far as attendance is concerned. Among the visitors were 1.45 lakh adults, 13,720 children, and 19,650 school students.

The show featured different kinds of attractions inspired by the Kittur kingdom. The floral replica of the Kittur fort is the major attraction of the event. The flower display was the blend of history and horticulture, providing a chance for visitors to know the bravery and legacy of Chennamma and Rayanna through the decoration of flowers during the show. People from all walks of life turned to Lalbagh to see the outstanding artistic arrangements.

 

The Horticulture Department is overjoyed due to the overwhelming response, and they hope that large crowds will keep coming in the remaining days of the show. The event shows the country’s rich heritage and the true spirit of independence.
