Bagalkote Horticulture University to function as usual, minister clarifies

uniBengaluru: Karnataka Agriculture Minister Chaluvarayaswamy has candidly said that the state government doesn't have any plan to shut down the Bagalkote Horticulture University. He assured this recently during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council. The minister replied to the question raised by the BJP MLC Hanumanth Nirani about the future of the university. He expressed concern that the government’s move to set up a comprehensive university in Mandya may result in the closure or shifting of the Bagalkote Horticulture University.

Nirani went on to say that the university in Bagalkote must not be closed under any circumstances. He said the government may attempt to close the institution to make Mandya’s university more powerful. He further added that the government should not merge or reduce the significance of Bagalkote University. Responding to these concerns, Minister Chaluvarayaswamy said that the government has no plan to shut down the reputed institution. He assured that it will run as usual in Bagalkote and the government doesn't have any plan to shift it somewhere else.

 

The minister’s statement has satisfied everyone that the university will continue to function. His announcement has provided a sigh of relief to students, faculty members, and local representatives who were thinking about the university’s future.
