Subhajit Saha, Head of Legal and IPR at Resolute for IP, in his keynote address said that the role of patents, IPRs, and Geographical Indications (GI) is immense in the promotion of horticulture. He further added that legal protection helps farmers and researchers by providing them rights over their work.

The event's organising secretary, Dr. Pidigam Saidaiah, highlighted the university's efforts to document Telangana’s rich horticultural heritage. The aim is to file GI applications to legally recognise traditional crops and farming practices in the state.

The focus of the workshop is to raise awareness about intellectual property and how it can save local knowledge, new techniques, and research in agriculture.
