The ZTM-BPD Unit, in collaboration with the Division of Plant Pathology, has been organising the training, aiming to provide practical knowledge to participants about mushroom farming, processing, and business opportunities. During the week-long event, students, farmers, women, and government officials will participate, which will increase their interest in this field of horticulture.
Dr. Rao praised the efforts of IARI in promoting skill development and entrepreneurship. He said mushroom farming is filled with potential as a profitable and sustainable agribusiness. He also asked mentors to train participants with real-world knowledge so that they can start their own business and make a vital contribution to the growth of horticulture.
During the event, Dr. Rao released a training manual titled “Mushroom Cultivation for Sustainable Agribusiness". All the participants got this manual at the end of the programme. The initiative makes it clear that the horticulture sector plays a key role in providing jobs and making mushroom growers economically sound. Besides this, it also supports sustainable farming.
