Chandigarh: The Haryana government has been gearing up to establish some small collection centres so that horticulture crops can be transported from the hilly area of Morni to adjacent markets. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini urged the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board to take action in this regard. He also asked the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department to take feedback from local farmers and solve their ongoing problems in crop production.

The CM held a review meeting recently with departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, VITA, the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, the Haryana Warehouse Corporation, and the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department to assess the situation.

During the meeting the CM said the state has been planning to start organic farming on one lakh acres of land this year. He asked officials to encourage farmers so that they can adopt natural farming. He asked the Horticulture Department to implement government plans immediately that will boost farmers' profit. At present, 11 horticulture centres are operating in Haryana, and three new centres, like Barwala (Hisar) for dates, Nabipur (Ambala) for litchi, and Chhachhrauli (Yamunanagar) for strawberries, are under construction.

During the meeting senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and others, were also present.
