Gurugram: The Haryana government has given the green signal for the construction of the NCR’s largest wholesale flower market in Sector 109, Pawala Khusrupur village, Gurugram. It will be set up over 10 acres near the Dwarka Expressway. The upcoming market is expected to become a boon for farmers, traders, retailers, and consumers.

The scheme was first proposed in 2019 but could not be implemented and was delayed, but Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has decided to revive the scheme, and it will be tabled in the state budget of 2025. The market will be developed jointly by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA); it is estimated to cost Rs 50 crore.

Officials said the land has been identified, and formal approval from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is awaited. The market will be replete with all the modern facilities, such as auction centres, cold storage, sorting units, and retail shops.

After its operation the market is likely to handle trade worth Rs 275 crore every year, reducing the load on Delhi’s Ghazipur flower mandi. Farmers are hoping that this mandi will increase their profit and cut transportation costs. Residents and wedding planners are sure that it will cut flower prices and offer better access. Locals are expecting that with this initiative, new job opportunities will be created. The market is expected to start its function by mid-2026.
