The main focus is on climate change and how to address it through nature-based solutions. It aims to build the capacity of professionals working in the field of environment and forestry. Around thirty participants are taking part in the event, including top brass of the horticulture sector and faculty members from SKUAST-K. The goal of the training is to improve technical knowledge in regard to overcoming climate change.
Prof. Haroon Rashid Naik, Director of Research at SKUAST-K, unveiled the workshop, and Irfan Rasool Wani, Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K, delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the role of forestry in overcoming climate change.
The training has covered several topics, such as carbon finance, geospatial tools, forest-based climate strategies, and carbon stock assessment. The sessions are being conducted by the experts from TERI, providing scientific knowledge to participants with practical solutions.
