Minister asks officials to study horticulture sector in neighbouring states

Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat urged the senior officials of the Horticulture Department to study the progress of the horti sector in neighboring states and get the innovative things from them for improving horticulture in Punjab. Horticulture Secretary Mohammad Tayyab and Director Shailender Kaur informed the minister about the farmers receiving subsidies under different schemes. Bhagat emphasized that it is essential to implement the government schemes effectively so that farmers can get maximum benefits.

The minister stressed that it is essential to plant fruit trees on Panchayat lands, emphasizing the importance of agroforestry. He highlighted that this initiative would increase green cover and provide an additional source of income for farmers. Such efforts, he said, would support both farmers and environmental sustainability.

Several department employees were honored for their hard work in implementing horticulture schemes. Awardees included HDO Balwinderjit Kaur, ACFA Gurpreet Kaur, Senior Assistants Sumeet Kapoor and Rajinder Kumar, Steno Navjit Kumar, Clerks Harpreet Singh and Rupinderjit Singh, along with staff members Mahadev Gupta and Tula Ram.

Bhagat went on to say that the state government will leave no stone unturned in strengthening Punjab’s horticulture sector through positive schemes and innovative policies. He assured that farmers will get all kinds of support and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
