Review of Tree Transplantation Policy by Delhi Environment Minister
All agencies concerned, including the Delhi Jal Board, municipal corporations, Delhi Development Authority, Railways, Public Works Department etc, have been asked to provide data on trees transplanted by them. This is being done to ascertain the impact of the policy.
A common agency for all departments for a tree transplantation audit will also be appointed.
As indicated by the ‘Tree Transplantation Policy’, organizations concerned are expected to relocate at least 80% of the trees impacted by their advancement/development works.
At the end of one year, the benchmark tree survival rate is 80%.
As per the recent review report, 72% to 81% of the saplings established in Delhi during 2016-2019 have survived.
