A NEW DAWN IN NEW DELHI: Decorated Delhi ready to welcome global guests

Floral decorations on the trees of New Delhi and G20 boards on main roads to beautify the city’s landscape

New Delhi: In the grandeur of India’s prestigious G20 Chairmanship under the leadership of Prime Minister of India, the Horticulture Department of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has embarked on a grand journey of decorating thousands of trees as well as preparing and installing G20 Floral boards. Now, fully decorated Delhi is ready to welcome its global guests.

Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council told Nursery Today that work has already been completed and installation of 20 flower boards prominently displaying the G20 logo and slogan – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future” at strategic locations across New Delhi. In addition, thousands of trees falling in high-traffic areas frequented by our distinguished guests have been decorated with flowers for the main G20 events scheduled for September 8-10.

Highlighting the unwavering commitment of the Horticulture Department with 1200 dedicated individuals, Upadhyay affirmed their tireless efforts day and night to enhance the aesthetic appeal of New Delhi especially for the honored G20 guests. The department has deployed special personnel, vehicles and tankers to develop the greenery of the city to the fullest.

Further, Upadhyay proudly shared that NDMC has already beautified its roads, footpaths, roundabouts, markets, flyovers and public areas with over 1 lakh potted plants grown in the state-of-the-art NDMC hi-tech nurseries. Additionally, their green initiatives have led to the planting of over 3 thousand trees and an impressive 9 lakh saplings, beautifying footpaths, roadsides, roundabouts and more. These efforts underline NDMC’s strong commitment to a green and healthy environment.

Upadhyay said that the Council, as the apex civic body, is ready to showcase the beauty of New Delhi to the world during the G20 Summit. They emphasized the important role of the G20 Summit in shaping and strengthening global economic governance and architecture. Upadhyay extended his heartiest congratulations to the Chairman, Secretary, Council Members, Officers and dedicated employees for their tireless work in ensuring the grand success of the G20 Summit.

As preparations for the G20 event are almost complete, Upadhyay expressed NDMC’s unwavering commitment to ensure the well-being and uninterrupted functioning of the city during this important global gathering.
